Services for Ray LaVaughan Gordon, 84, of Canton, TX are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 1, 2019, at First Baptist Church in Canton officiated by Bro. Mike Roberson. Interment will be at Haven of Memories Memorial Park.
Mr. Gordon passed away January 27, 2019, in Canton, TX. He was born October 14,1934, in Snyder, TX to Lloyd Clinton and Emma Hendrix Gordon.
He was raised in Snyder and graduated high school in 1954. He married his high school sweetheart on June 6, 1958. He attended Texas Tech University where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering while working full time for KCBD Channel 11 in Lubbock. They moved to Garland in 1959 where he was a founder of South Garland Baptist Church and served in the National Guard. He retired to Canton in 1993 and became a member of First Baptist Church and the Lions Club. Ray enjoyed music, woodworking and yard work.
Mr. Gordon is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Jana Wylie and sister, Marie Walton.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Gordon, of Canton, daughter, Paula and Van Wylie, daughter, Tamara Howton, granddaughter, Vanessa and Bill Goodwin, grandson, Andrew and Brittany Wylie, granddaughter, Ellen Howton and Michael Wisenbaker, granddaughter, Jessica Wylie, grandson, Ross Wylie, five great grandchildren, Brayden, Bryleigh, Joel, Cason, Sunny and son-in-law, Mark Wylie.
Pallbearers will be Jack Mewbourn, Bob Giles, Max Callahan, Jimmy Parkerson, Marvin Edwards, Dewey Pierce, Jimmy Strickland and Lester Godwin.
The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, TX.
