

Robert "Bob" Dean Barker, age 87, of Ben Wheeler, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 30, 2026. He was born on June 9, 1939, in Canton, Illinois, to Carl Barker and Letha Saunders Barker.
A proud veteran, Bob served with the Air Force. He later built a career with GM, spanning 42 years in the parts division, where his steady dedication and dependable presence were valued and respected.
Bob was a devoted and caring husband to his wife, Billie. His devotion was evident to all, especially in the tender care he gave his true love in her later years. Together, Robert and Billie shared a wonderful life spanning 65 years at her passing—a bond cherished deeply and remembered with gratitude.
He was a dedicated father and grandfather; time with family brought him joy and happiness. Those who knew Bob best will remember the quiet strength of his love, the constancy of his support, and the way he made others feel valued simply by being present.
Bob enjoyed reading westerns, fishing, traveling, cooking, raising cows and spending time with family—simple pleasures that reflected a life grounded in appreciation, patience, and care.
He was a good and loyal friend and never met a stranger. Bob’s faithful love of the Lord and knowledge of the Bible was evident to all who knew him. Expressed through a life of devotion, steadiness, and sincere regard for others.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Letha Barker; his beloved wife, Billie Barker; a son in-law, Daniel Goff and a daughter in-law, Michelle Barker.
He is survived by his children: Laurel Gross and husband, Geff, Lisa Barker Goff, and Scott Barker; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother and five sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will have a service celebrating his life at a later date.
