Rodney Willard Garrett, 66, was born on January 18, 1960, and passed away on July 22, 2026. A resident of Martin's Mill, Texas, Rodney will be remembered as a beloved presence—steady, kind-hearted, and deeply devoted to the people who mattered most to him.
Hard-working in the truest sense, Rodney found dignity and satisfaction in working with his hands. Whether he was setting marble and tile with care and precision, tending to a garden, taking on the everyday tasks, or his work at TVCC-Terrell Campus, he carried himself with quiet purpose and a generous spirit.
Some of the best moments were the simplest: sitting on the back porch with his beloved wife and "fur baby" Brandy, soaking in the life they built together. He also found joy in watching his grandchildren at their sporting events. Rodney loved his family wholeheartedly, and that love showed up in the way he gave his time, his attention, and his steady support.
In those familiar routines—hands busy, heart open, and family close—Rodney’s life spoke clearly: he cared deeply, worked faithfully, and left behind a legacy of warmth that will continue to lift those who knew and loved him.
Rodney was preceded in death by: his parents, Jack and Benna Garrett; his grandparents; Bennie and Iva Lee Henderson; and granddaughter, Ivory Reign Lovett.
Rodney is survived by: his wife, Sheila Garrett; his children: Trent Garrett and wife Val, Jasmine Garrett, and Amber Lovett and husband Ryan; his step-children: Ashley Ragsdale and husband Ryan, Kelsey Emmert and husband Collin, and Ryan Tarrant; Fifteen grandchildren; his brother, Kevin Garrett; and sister, Sheila Morrison and husband Trent.
A celebration of Rodney's life will be held at a later date that is to be determined. Should you wish, in lieu of flowers, a donation to St. Jude Children's Hospital or any charitable organization of your choosing would be appreciated.
