Ruth passed away peacefully on Monday, May 5, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. She was born January 19, 1946 in Dallas, TX to C.D. and Dorothy Hall Nail.
Ruth was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She worked at Shed's Food where she met the love of her life, Buddy. She then went to work for Sears Roebuck for many years. After she and Buddy moved to Grand Saline in 1981, she began working as a teacher's aide for the Van Zandt SSA (Co-Op) through the Edgewood School District's Special Education Department until her retirement. It was the perfect job for her; she loved the children and kept up with many of them through the years.
She loved traveling and eating at new restaurants. She also began baking cakes with love, namely wedding cakes, for people in the area. She loved the Lord and was part of the congregation of the Oakland Methodist Church. But most of all, she loved Buddy and her family. She will be missed by so many.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Buddy Lunsford of Grand Saline; her children: Treasa McClanahan and husband, John, of Grand Saline, Wade Lunsford and wife, Enola, of Gainesville, and Cindy Anderson and husband, Larry, of Grand Saline; her five grandchildren: Anthony Edwards, Amanda Edwards, Jarrod McClanahan, Patrick McClanahan, Christy Garrison; honorary grandchild: CharLee Carr; six great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Danny Nail and Clayton Nail; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and siblings: Loretta Strickland, Dorothy Perkins, Kimberly Nail, Brenda Holt, Rodney Nail and Paul Nail.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Edwards, Jarrod McClanahan, Patrick McClanahan, Matthew Strickland, Ryan Barbosa and Mason McClanahan.
Family will receive friends 6-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
