Suzanne “Susie” Thompson, 71, of Lowell, Arkansas, formerly of Canton, passed away January 4, 2026 at her home. She was born June 24, 1954 in Athens, TX to Olen Edward and Jimmie Nell Clayburn Raymond. A devoted wife to Jerrell Thompson and a loving mother to Corey, she was known for her contagious smile and the joy she brought to others.
She called Canton home for most of her life. She spent many years working as an EMT-Paramedic/Medical Assistant in Canton and Tyler. After the death of her husband, she owned and operated Susie’s Tea Room on the Square in Canton. She treasured this time working alongside her son as they both found a love for cooking together. After moving to Arkansas in 2012 to be closer with her family, Susie enjoyed working as a bank teller and bringing joy to all the co-workers and customers she encountered. She especially loved getting to talk with all the college students that banked with them until eventually retiring.
After retirement, she loved her neighbors like family. She continued to share her love of cooking with them especially with the homemade cakes she was famous for. She was active in her retirement community taking part in many activities like Bean Bag Baseball, Bingo, and community potlucks. Together they would attend services at the Freewill Baptist Church in Lowell, Arkansas.
Susie was a faithful and loving person who had an outgoing personality that endeared her to not only family and friends but the patients and customers she served throughout her career. What brought her the most joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandsons. Her son and her grandsons were her greatest pride and joy.
Susie is preceded in death by her parents, Olen and Jimmie Raymond; husband, Jerrell Thompson; and her sister, Robbie Chaney. Susie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Corey and Kim Thompson; and three grandsons: Brody, Carter and Wyatt Thompson.
Services will be held 2 pm Friday, January 9, 2026, at Eubank Funeral Home with Pastors Jimmy and Anneta Allen officiating. Her final resting place will be at Elm Grove Cemetery near Mabank.
