Teddie Sue Gilley

Teddie Sue Gilley, 78, of Wills Point, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2026, in Wills Point, Texas. She was born in Lufkin, Texas, on April 30, 1948, to Ted Seldon Williams and Mary Evelyn Hill Williams.

Teddie grew up in the Lufkin and Conroe, Texas area and graduated from Conroe High School. From early on, she carried a steady spirit and a warmth that drew people close—qualities that would remain a hallmark of her life and leave an enduring impression on those who knew her.

Teddie was a dedicated and hardworking woman who built a long career in medical billing, serving others with reliability, care, and quiet excellence. Her life offered an example of perseverance and purpose, expressed not in grand gestures, but in consistent devotion to what needed to be done.

Meeting through a friend, Teddie met and married her true love, Jimmy Gilley. Together they shared 40 years of love, laughter, and devotion at her passing. Teddie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and her home was often filled with the kind of joy that cannot be manufactured—especially when she made up funny songs with her grandchildren. Laughter could be heard throughout the house as they sang, and in those moments, her beloved, humorous nature shone brightly.

Teddie had a love of animals, especially dogs. The love and joy that her dog, Simon, brought her led her to want to share that comfort with others. Teddie and Simon became Therapet Volunteers, bringing comfort, joy, and love to all the people they met. She also wrote poems and expressed her creativity through songs and writings—gifts that reflected both her imagination and her ability to lift hearts.

Teddie and Jimmy were members of First Baptist Church of Canton. Teddie had a strong faith and love for God that never waived, and her faith provided a steady foundation throughout her life—an inspiration to many who witnessed her trust and devotion.

Teddie is preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Mary Williams; stepson, Scott Gilley; and granddaughter, Sarah Smith.

She is survived by her beloved, Jimmy Gilley; daughter and son in-law, Crystal and Casey Clower; step daughter and son in-law, Carrie and Dwayne Smith; grandchildren, Brady Clower, Blake Clower, Justin Smith, Shelby Smith; brother and sister in-law, Glen and Janet Williams; and a multitude of other family and friends.

Teddie will be remembered as deeply beloved—an encouraging presence, a faithful soul, and a source of genuine laughter and comfort. Her memory will continue to live on in the lives she touched, the love she gave so freely, and the joy she so naturally shared.
