Services for Vanqueta "Queta" Jean Tompkins, 85, of Ben Wheeler, will be held 11am Monday, October 27, 2025, at Heritage Trail Cowboy Church in Ben Wheeler with Bro. Mike Kirkpatrick officiating. Interment will be in Concord Cemetery.
Mrs. Tompkins passed away at her home on October 22, 2025. She was born January 14, 1940 in Ben Wheeler to Fred Monroe Ayers and Sarah Ann Wright Ayers.
Queta was a member of Flatwood Assembly of God Church in Edom where she was instrumental in the Flatwood Food Bank Ministry for many years. She had been attending the Heritage Trail Cowboy Church in Ben Wheeler for the past couple of years. Queta was a lifelong resident of Ben Wheeler. She enjoyed crocheting and sold her crochet work at the Edom Art Festival. Queta enjoyed growing strawberries and her CB handle was the "Strawberry Lady."
Mrs. Tompkins is preceded in death by her husband, Bob Tompkins; parents, Fred and Sarah Ayers; three sisters: May Bell Austin, Bernice Brown and Geneva Cantrell; and 2 brothers: Darrell and Curtis Ayers.
Queta is survived by her three sons: Billy Bob and Mollie Tompkins, Mike Tompkins and Anita Guess, and Tony and Tammy Tompkins; five grandchildren: Jennifer and Cody Kitchens, Dustin Tompkins, Billy Bob Tompkins Jr. and Tenna, Nick and Kenji Tompkins, Kandice and Rocky Wilson; seven great-grandchildren: Airon Tompkins, Laneigh Tompkins, Nikki Tompkins, Rocky Wilson Jr., Jessie Jean Wilson, Morgan and Bryce Colegrove, and Katelyn Kitchens and Michael Spenelli; and 2 great-great-grandchildren: Alayna Colegrove and Wyatt Lee Spenelli.
Pallbearers are Nicholas Tompkins, Billy Tompkins, Dustin Tompkins, Airon Tompkins, Rocky Wilson, and Rocky Wilson Jr.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
