Throughout her life, Veronica was known for a compassionate spirit and a kind-hearted way of moving through the world—qualities that made her deeply beloved by those who had the privilege of knowing her. She valued connection and presence, and her steady warmth could be felt in the everyday moments she shared with family, friends, and coworkers.
Veronica enjoyed watching sports and good conversation about the latest game. Spending time on a beach or with family brought her joy. She was also an avid reader who loved the quiet adventure of books, happily escaping to far away place with every story. Many will remember how easily she could be found cozied up with her Kindle or a good book, and how gladly she would share what she had read—always eager to see others pick up a book and discover the world that reading could open.
Veronica is preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Pam Mathies.
She is survived by her brother, Douglas Mathies and wife, Serena; sister, Connie LaFlower and husband, Vince; nephews: Dakota Mathies, Hunter LaFlower, Kody Mathies; a multitude of coworkers, friends and other family.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you donate to an oral cancer research of your choice in Veronica's name.
