Services for Veta Leon McCord Burns, 87, of Canton, are scheduled for 2 pm Sunday, January 31, 2016, at the Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Bro. Steve Glosup officiating. Burial will be in Haven of Memories Memorial Park.
Mrs. Burns passed away Friday, January 29, 2016, at her home in Canton. She was born November 27, 1928 in the High Community to Howell Elmo and Ottie Marie Norman McCord.
Veta was a member of the Tundra Baptist Church. She worked for Van Zandt County in various positions and retired as District Court Clerk. She enjoyed traveling and having her family at her home.
Mrs. Burns is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Buck Burns; infant son, Jimmy Steven Burns; parents; brother, Kenneth Ray McCord; and her sister, Mattie Belle Kinney.
Veta is survived by her daughter, Veta Diane Burns Poole of Canton; son, Bryan Paul Burns and wife Candice of Canton; daughter, Carol Lynn Burns Beal and husband, Rollin, of Canton; 3 grandchildren: Cody Burns, Andrea Manry and Rachel Gilbert; 4 great-grandchildren: Hunter Manry, Hannah Manry, Gabriel Gilbert, and Mattie Burns; 2 sisters: Jo Marie Marvin and Wanda Fae Westmoreland.
Visitation will be 6-8 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
