Funeral Services for Virginia Ann Craver, 91, of Canton, Texas, will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 18, 2019 at Eubank Funeral Home, with Bro. Steve Glosup officiating. Family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 to 2:00 at the funeral home.
Virginia passed away peacefully at her home in Canton on August 14, 2019.
Virginia, “Ginny” to those blessed to know her, was born in Dallas on October 10, 1927, to Thomas Lewis and Pauline Wallace Lawler. She graduated from San Jacinto High School in Houston and continued her studies at the University of Houston where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She met the love of her life, Pete Flint Craver, Jr., while in college and they were married November 3, 1946. They moved to Tulsa in 1953 where they spent the majority of their life together.
Ginny was active in the community and held offices in the Community Chest, PTA, Y-Teens Council, Southminster Presbyterian Church, Alpha Delta Pi Alumnae Association (past chairman and president, Outstanding Alum in Tulsa in 1961 and Outstanding Alum in Oklahoma in 1964), Red Glove Revue, Tulsa Cerebral Palsy Association, Tulsa Towner’s Club, PanHellenic and the Junior League. She enjoyed traveling, tennis, reading, gardening, camping, interior decorating, playing bridge, and, most of all, family and friends
Pete passed away in 1968 and Ginny ultimately moved to Canton to be closer to her parents in 1978. Three years later, she was offered the opportunity to manage The Platt Collections, a furniture showroom in the Dallas Market Center. For over 30 years, Ginny lived in Dallas during the week managing the furniture showroom and traveled home to Canton on the weekends. She retired from Platt Collections in 2011 and moved to Canton full time. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Ginny is survived by her Daughters: Cathey Sudduth and Cindy Navin; Son, Pete Flint Craver III and wife Dawn; Grandsons and wives: Mark and Harriett Sudduth, Chris and Jennifer Sudduth, TJ and Tara Navin, Andrew and Leanna Navin, and Scooter Craver; Granddaughter and husband, Paige and Matt Fischer; thirteen Great-Grandchildren: Kate, Maggie, Ashley, Tate, Tripp, Tucker, Samantha, Tinsley, Josie, Aidan, Marin, Bennett and Everett (a 14th is due in January 2020; Niece, Teel Lunsford; and numerous other relatives.
She is preceded in death by her Parents: Lewis and Pauline Lawler, Husband: Pete Craver, and Brothers: Thomas Lawler and Marion Lawler.
Interment will be at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston on August 20, 2019.
