Captain Cox was such an energetic person and always laughing or smiling but stayed on top of things while working in Police Communications. I remember he was our Captain when we converted from "blue logs" to computerized dispatching - we were all stressed out - but he held us together!

You will be missed!

Rest in peace.

My sincerest condolences to the Cox Family.

Wardell, you always had that scarce commodity. Common sense!
You were the best to work with, fish with and play golf with. A good man. A good husband and a good father! God speed!

My deepest condolences to the family. I enjoyed my almost 30 years with Wardell, playing softball, fishing, hunting, policing, laughing and his spirit will always be with me.

Captain Cox you were one of the best captains that I had the pleasure of working for at Irving pd. Back in the 90's when we where located in the city hall basement and while having a conversation with you I called you bubba and from that moment on the dispatch crew would never let me forget that and from that day to this day you became captain bubba to all of us. Rip my friend you will be missed.

A true friend and a person who made my world a better place and my job a lot easier. Enjoyed being in his company and wish I had told him a long time ago how much I appreciated him. Hit them long and straight.
