Albert Allen Reschke

Al was born November 11, 1935 in Maysville, KY to Rev. Gustav and Louise Reschke. Al worked in retail management for over 40 years, a career that moved him and his family 10 times to 6 states. Al, or “Popeye” to his grandchildren, was an avid gardener, fisherman, and lover of peanut butter and mayonnaise sandwiches.

Al is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Barbara (née Farris), as well as his 3 sisters (Sylvia Miller, Helen Balkie, and Marlene Dail), 2 children (Helen Sunkel and Troy Reschke), and 3 grandchildren (Claire, Richard, and Scotlyn Sunkel). Al was preceded in death by numerous cherished family members and friends.

Al will be laid to rest in a small family service at Mountainside Lutheran Church in Linville, North Carolina—a favorite vacation spot of the family.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in Al’s name to Hope Hospice of Lee County, whose compassionate medical and emotional support eased the pain of Al’s family during this difficult time.
