Alexander N. Hunter, 91, of Fort Myers, FL passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 with his loving family by his side. Born in Belmont, MA on April 27, 1929, Al was the loving son of Nicholas and Irene (Hunter) Avtges.
Al is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Hope and his three children, Irene DesRoches and husband Pierre DesRoches of Tampa FL, Nicholas A. Hunter and wife Ellen Hunter of Hingham, MA and Peter A. Hunter of Concord, MA. Al is also blessed with seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Al was also the loving brother of William Hunter and the late James Hunter and the late Nancy Veveris.
Al was known by family, friends and the community as a having a larger than life personality and an unyielding love for his family. Al was a Korean War hero (Purple Heart recipient) and successful entrepreneur, owning and running many businesses including American Auto Transporters. Al and Hope retired to Cape Coral and then Ft. Myers for over 30 years and have enjoyed their retirement with friends, relatives and the Greek Orthodox church community.
Services will on Monday, September 21, 2020 at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 8210 Cypress Lake, Fort Myers. A visitation will be held 10 - 11am with funeral services to follow. A burial will be immediately after at the Coral Ridge Cemetery, 950 Chiquita Blvd. S., Cape Coral, FL. The funeral services will also be live streamed on the Church’s website, https://www.facebook.com/annunciationgoc.fortmyers/ We will ask that everyone observe social distancing and masks will be required.
