Ana Mercedes Calzadilla

Born in Santa Clara, Cuba, on September 24, 1936, Ana Mercedes lived a life rich in love, laughter, and connection. She was the heart of her family—the light and energy of every room she entered. Friendly, outgoing, and always up for a chat, she was known for her warm hugs, sharp humor, and love of “chisme” over a strong cup of coffee.

Ana shared a beautiful life with her husband, Manuel Calzadilla, and was a devoted mother to Ana Maria Rivera and Alexander Calzadilla. She was a loving mother-in-law to Juan Carlos Rivera, who became like another son to her—always present, dependable, and ready to help whenever the family needed him. She was proudly and lovingly “Abuela” to her grandchildren, Daniel Rivera (and his fiancée Karly Hooper) and Adriana Deyarmin (and her husband Joshua Deyarmin), and found great joy in being a great-grandmother to Talia Deyarmin.

Every summer, Ana cared for her grandchildren in Miami, creating a rhythm of poolside afternoons, shared meals, and the kind of easy joy only an Abuela can bring. Holidays were filled with laughter, music, and traditions that she helped build and pass on. She never missed a moment to gather close and make memories. Ana had a gift for turning everyday routines into lasting memories—sitting at the edge of the bed to debrief after a long day, shopping with her daughter and granddaughter, or playing the piano with grace and heart. Music was her passion, and her love for family was unwavering. She stayed deeply connected to her roots, often visiting family in Cuba, where her presence brought just as much joy as it did at home. Ana Mercedes will be remembered for the beautiful life she lived and for how deeply she loved. Her legacy is one of warmth, music, strength, and cherished memories. She will be forever missed and always in our hearts.

Ana Mercedes Calzadilla, querida esposa, madre, abuela, bisabuela y amiga, falleció en paz el 27 de mayo de 2025 a los 88 años de edad.

Nacida en Santa Clara, Cuba, el 24 de septiembre de 1936, Ana Mercedes vivió una vida llena de amor, alegría y conexiones profundas. Fue el corazón de su familia—la luz y energía en cada reunión. Ana compartió una hermosa vida junto a su esposo, Manuel Calzadilla, y fue una madre dedicada para Ana María Rivera y Alexander Calzadilla. Fue también una suegra cariñosa para Juan Carlos Rivera, quien llegó a ser como otro hijo para ella—siempre presente, confiable y dispuesto a ayudar cuando la familia lo necesitaba. Con orgullo y ternura fue “Abuela” de sus nietos, Daniel Rivera (junto a su prometida Karly Hooper) y Adriana Deyarmin (junto a su esposo Joshua Deyarmin), y encontró una gran alegría al convertirse en bisabuela de Talia Deyarmin.

Cada verano, cuidaba de sus nietos en Miami, creando recuerdos inolvidables de tardes junto a la piscina, comidas en familia y la alegría única que solo una abuela puede brindar. Ana también mantuvo un fuerte lazo con sus raíces, visitando frecuentemente a su familia en Cuba, donde su presencia era tan querida como en su hogar. Ana Mercedes será recordada por la hermosa vida que vivió y por la profundidad de su amor. Su legado es uno de calidez, música, fortaleza y memorias inolvidables. Vivirá para siempre en nuestros corazones. La extrañaremos profundamente.
