Blaine was truly one of a kind-
A man who could never be replaced and certainly could never be forgotten. He had a heart bigger than most, and if you knew him, you knew he would give you the shirt off his back and do just about anything, anytime, for anyone.
To know Blaine was to love Blaine.
At just 12 years old, Blaine lost his leg to bone cancer but even that never stopped him not once in his lifetime from doing anything he said he wanted to do or believed he could do. He never allowed losing his leg to put limitations on the life he wanted to live. If Blaine said he was going to do something, you could bet he was going to find a way to do it. His strength, determination, and stubbornness were a part of who he was from a very young age and stayed with him throughout his entire life.
He lived one heck of a life and collected an unbelievable amount of stories along the way. Stories that sounded so outrageous that you might have thought there was no way they could possibly be true but somehow, they were. Blaine had a way of finding himself in the most unforgettable situations, and if there was ever a man who truly had nine lives, it was him. Honestly, he probably had a few more than nine.
Blaine had many passions throughout his life, including his love for classic cars, traveling, and, perhaps most surprisingly, his job. He genuinely loved what he did. For many many years, Blaine drove limousines for Hooters, and as he would probably tell you himself, what man wouldn’t love a job that kept him surrounded by beautiful women? He had a personality that filled every room he walked into. Blaine was always the main character, whether he intended to be or not.
But beneath his larger-than-life personality was a man who loved deeply and fiercely. There was no greater love in his life than the love he had for his wife, Pauline. Nothing in this world could ever compare to it. He loved his family with every part of him, and they meant more to him than anything.
Blaine experienced more unimaginable loss throughout his lifetime than most people could ever comprehend. Losing his beloved wife, Pauline and his only children broke his heart in ways that few could ever truly understand. Those losses left wounds that never completely healed, but somehow, Blaine kept going.
He battled through countless health struggles over the years, yet he remained strong, stubborn, and determined. He fought harder than anyone could have expected and held on for as long as he possibly could.. Especially for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he loved more than life itself. They gave him a reason to keep fighting, and he cherished every moment he had with them.
Blaine will forever be remembered as the strong, loving, hard-headed, one legged man who was known and loved by so many. He had a way of leaving an impression on everyone he met, and there was simply no one else quite like him.
Never will be.
His stories, his laughter, his stubbornness, his wild adventures, his huge heart, and the love he had for his family will live on through everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Blaine lived a life that was anything but ordinary.
And if you knew him, you’d know he wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
He was deeply loved and he will be missed more than words could ever express.
Rest easy, Blaine.
Your story will never be forgotten.
Blaine is survived by His grandchildren -
Devyn Matson, Blaine Stoddard, Karl Kershaw and Autumn Stoddard.
As well as his great grandchildren.
