Born in 1939, Carolyn was raised by her loving parents, Gerald and Mary Moody in a child's paradise. On the Caloosahatchee River, beside the mouth of Hancock Creek, the farm and ranch stretched west with fields for growing gladiolas and pastures for grazing cattle. There were horses to ride, a canoe to paddle, and jungles and woods to explore.
She and her two sisters, Martha and Linda, all graduated from the University of Florida. Carolyn worked in several different fields over her lifetime. At one time she and a partner had a woodworking business. She worked in the Rare Book Department at the University of Florida. At her home on Pine Island, she engaged
and worked with the Library, the Museum, and the Calusa Land Trust.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Murphey; her two sisters, Martha Lee Katelle and Linda Adams and brother-in-law Kenneth Adams; her nephews Jecoa Sowillo, Shan Stewart, Michael Adams and Brant Adams. A friend to everyone she met, Carolyn was loved by many, and will be missed.
