Chantal Julia Lamotte

Chantal Julia Lamotte, 74, of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025. Chantal was born on June 5, 1951 in northern France to Michel and Liliane (Bigot) Lamotte. She immigrated to the US in 1957 with her parents and soon welcomed a brother Patrick and a sister Catherine.

Chantal spent some time in the hospital as a child, having surgeries to repair her heart at University of Michigan Hospital. She moved to California and spent her formative years there, living and growing up in Reseda. The family eventually moved to Michigan, where Chantal graduated from Linden High School.

Chantal was an industrious worker and spent many years working retail, travel, and management positions with various companies. She enjoyed traveling, returning to France many times in her life and maintaining family ties to relatives abroad. She also spent many years as an accomplished ceramics artist. But the love of all animals (she was so excited to have a burrowing owl in her yard!) and especially her dogs is what truly defined Chantal’s interests. She had many pups and dogs in her life and leaves behind her dogs Gizmo and Annie, who are being cared for by good friends.

Chantal is survived by her brother Patrick Lamotte (Norma) of Holland, Michigan and her sister Catherine Bargellini (Michael) of Jacksonville, Florida. She is also survived by her niece Bonnie van der Ven (Alex) of Byron Center, Michigan. Chantal had many aunts, uncles and cousins as well as many friends over the years. She was predeceased by her father Michel Lamotte, her mother Liliane Leclaire, and aunts, uncles and cousins from France.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Tuesday, August 26th at the Rotary Park Environmental Center, Main Room, 5505 Rose Garden Drive, Cape Coral, FL 33994 between the hours of 5 - 7pm.
