

Charles “Charlie” T. Smith, 78, of Cape Coral was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 31, 1934 to Charles Elmer Smith and Evangeline White-Smith. Charlie passed away peacefully in Cape Coral on Wednesday, March 28, 2012. Charlie graduated from Manhattan Aviation School in 1952. Served honorably as a Sergeant in the US Marine Corps as crew chief from 1953 - 1957. Married in 1955 to his childhood sweetheart Marion, a true love affair of 57 years. Charlie started working for Eastern Airlines in 1957 and then transferred to Miami in 1968. Retired from Eastern Airlines after 32 years at the age of 55. In 1994, moved to Cape Coral where he enjoyed the beach, fishing, music, his boat, cars, fixing just about anything for anybody , and most of all making others laugh at his jokes . His garage was his tinker shop where visitors were always welcomed. He was a valued and dedicated member of several clubs including Moose, VFW, American Legion, Eagles, Elks, and Cop Shop. For several years he enjoyed and took pride in calling bingo at the Moose Lodge 2199.
To cherish he leaves behind his beautiful wife Marion, his brother George, his children, Charles, Cindy Capuano, Danny, Bobby, and Jennifer Bulten-Aponte, his grandchildren Mark Charles, Carolann, Christinia, Jeffrey, Charles, Ryan, Zach, Jessica, Trenton, Brooke Violet, Tori and several nieces and nephews. He will be loved and missed by all. Our heart- felt thank you to Hope Hospice for their loving and tender care. A visitation will be held at Coral Ridge Funeral Home on Sunday, April 1st, between the hours of 2–5:30pm, with service to follow. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Andrews Catholic Church on Monday, April 2nd at 10am, with burial and Military Honors to follow at Coral Ridge Cemetery.
