Born in Ashley, Pennsylvania, Don spent most of his life in New Jersey before moving to Cape Coral, Florida, in 2016, where he began a new chapter of his life.
Don was a proud United States Navy veteran who served his country with honor. His pride in his service remained an important part of his life.
Don shared 60 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Regina. Together with their daughter, Debbie, they were co-owners of Byram Travel in Stanhope, New Jersey, for 35 years. Their family business was an important part of their lives, combining hard work, dedication, and the opportunity to share their love of travel with others.
Don loved traveling, especially cruising, and enjoyed the adventures and experiences that came with exploring new places. He also enjoyed boating, scuba diving, golf, and bowling. When relaxing at home, he could often be found watching NASCAR races or football on television.
Above all, Don had a special place in his heart for his beloved poodles, who were much more than pets—they were his best buddies and cherished companions. Their love and companionship brought him great joy and were among the simple pleasures that made life special.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, August Switulavich and Agnes Brown Switulavich, and his son-in-law, Scott Williams.
He is survived by his loving wife, Regina; his son, David Switulavich, and daughter-in-law, Shawna; his daughter, Debbie Switulavich-Williams; and his sisters, Janice Buchanan and Karen Super, and Karen’s husband, Joseph.
Don’s life was filled with family, adventure, hard work, service to his country, and the many interests that brought him happiness. From building a family business and traveling the world to enjoying his favorite sports and spending time with his beloved poodles, Don leaves behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, and memories to be treasured.
He will be deeply missed by his loving family and all who knew him. Though he is gone, the love he shared and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
A Celebration of Life honoring Don will be held at a later date.
Fair winds and following seas, Don. Thank you for your service. May you rest in peace, forever loved and never forgotten.
