

Dorothy Kayatta, 87, of Cape Coral passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2013. Born June 15, 1926 in NYC to Gertrude and John Donovan, Dorothy was the granddaughter of boxing legend Professor Michael Donovan. Dorothy left high school early to join in the war effort as a riveter at Republic Aircraft Corp on Long Island, New York. After the war, she married Michael Kayatta and raised a family. Michael and Dorothy were happily married for 67 years. After raising her children, Dorothy decided to pursue her life-long love of Art. She earned her GED and then went on to earn an Associates Degree in Fine Arts. At age 60, she became an accomplished watercolor artist and was featured in numerous art shows and exhibits. Her art will go on being cherished in the hearts and homes of her family. Dorothy is survived by her 3 loving children Michael, Susan (Victor) Toader of Colorado Springs, CO and Patrick (Jessica Gomez) of Medford, OR; 11 cherished grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Michael, brother Bill Donovan and daughter-in-law Flora. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 9th at Coral Ridge Funeral Home and Cemetery between the hours of 11 – 1pm with service and entombment to follow.
