

Dorothy began her career in 1957 at Mansfield Ohio Telephone Co. She later moved to Fort Myers, Florida, in 1968 and continued working at United Telephone Co in 1970. She dedicated herself to her profession, retiring in 2004 from Sprint/Centurylink.
In her free time, Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She found joy in reading, watching her favorite TV shows, and going on road trips to visit family.
She was loving, generous to a fault, sharply funny, and all who met her, loved her! Dorothy's warm personality and kind nature made her a beloved figure in the lives of her family and friends.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Shawn (Donna Hadley) McClure, Shannon McClure Hidlebaugh, and Shane (Wendy) McClure. She was a cherished grandmother to 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Dorothy is also survived by her sisters, Patricia Craner and Sara (David) Downey, as well as sisters-in-law Jocelyn McAuley and Sue Ann Pennypacker. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Ethel McAuley, her siblings James (Hannelore) McAuley, Leonard McAuley, and Helen (William) Gehm, and her former husband, David E. McClure.
A memorial service to honor Dorothy's life will be determined at a later date. Contributions in her memory may be made to any non-profit organization supporting research and advocacy for Alzheimer's disease.
The Coral Ridge Funeral Home in Cape Coral, Florida, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Dorothy will be remembered for her loving nature, sense of humor, and dedication to her family and community. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness that will be cherished by all who knew her.
