Douglas Peter Van Tol, Jr., 55, of Wakefield (South Kingstown) Rhode Island, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2026. He was born on January 24, 1971, in Pequannock, NJ. He worked for Raytheon (RTX) mainly in Portsmouth, RI for 29 years. He graduated from Mount Abraham Union High School in Bristol, VT and attended Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY. He received a scholarship from Simmonds Precision in Vergennes, VT and worked summers there while he was attending RIT. He later transferred to Norwich University in Norwich, VT where he received a BS in Electrical Engineering. Douglas enjoyed all types of sports and was an avid skier in his youth. In later years he enjoyed fishing, video gaming and golf.
Douglas is survived by his parents Douglas and Mary Van Tol of Cape Coral, FL, his brother and sister-in-law Eric and Claire Milam Van Tol of Martinsburg, West Virginia, and his Uncle Philip Fotopoulos of Ft. Myers, FL.
A memorial service will be held at a future date.
