Edeltraud “Edel” York, 91, of Cape Coral passed away Friday, February 12, 2016. Born April 17, 1924 in Frankfurt, Germany to Heinrich and Hildegard Breuker, Edel lived there during WWII. After the war, she worked for the American Occupation Forces as a interpreter and typist where she met her husband, Neil York. They married September 15, 1948 in Germany. Edel came to the US as a warbride with Neil December 1948 and spent 8 years in Neil’s home state of Kansas and later moved to Lima, OH in 1956 where Edel’s mother came to live with them until she passed away in 1985. Neil retired from Ford Motor Company in 1987 after 30 years when they moved to Cape Coral. Neil passed away March 28, 2002. They didn’t have any children but a “daughter-like” friend Debra Locke in Louisville, KY. Edel’s only family are a few cousins in Germany. She leaves behind 2 sisters-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law and lots of friends.
