Edward John Godlewski, 100, of Cape Coral, FL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in Cape Coral. Born May 15, 1925, in Cleveland, OH, he was the son of the late Eustazy and Wanda (Biegajska) Godlewski.
Edward lived a long, full, and purpose driven life. A proud World War II Veteran, he served honorably in the United States Navy, carrying with him a deep sense of duty and patriotism throughout his years. After completing his military service, Edward embraced a life of hard work and self reliance—purchasing a farm and later operating a steel mill, both of which reflected his determination, resilience, and unwavering work ethic.
Blessed with a natural gift for fixing, building, and creating, Edward was an extraordinary handyman. He poured his skills into caring for his home, helping neighbors, and supporting his church community. If something needed repairing, improving, or inventing, Edward was the one people turned to.
He found joy in the simple, peaceful rhythms of life. Fishing was one of his greatest pleasures, offering him quiet moments on the water. He was also a talented watercolor painter, capturing beauty with a gentle hand and a keen eye. True to his resourceful spirit, he even crafted his own custom frames for his artwork.
Edward’s century of life was marked by service, creativity, generosity, and love for the people and places around him. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, the things he built, and the memories he leaves behind.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Ben and sister, Helen. Edward is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Juana; 12 children, Elaine, Gene, Joann, Shirley, Barbara, Eddie, Rose Ann, Ilona, Catharine, Brenda, Ricardo and Roberto; as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 24, 2026 from 10:00 AM – 12 Noon at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 950 Chiquita Boulevard S., Cape Coral, FL 33991. A Funeral Service will be celebrated 12 Noon, Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Garden of Honor where the United States Navy will present Military Honors.
