

He was a former firefighter for many years and served a term as Chief of the Pochuck Valley Fire Department. He was a former member of the Asbestos Workers Union, Local 12 and The Teamsters. He was the owner of Countryside Landscaping in Vernon, NJ for 35 years. One of his greatest passions was sitting in a tree stand waiting for the elusive 12 pointer and also fishing with friends on Lake Ontario.
He is survived by his wife Mary (Molloy) Higgins, his son Matthew Higgins and his wife Michele, his daughters Kelly Higgins and her fiancée Danielle Mannion and Sharon (Higgins) Murin and her husband Zac. He was a loving grandfather to Kelsey and Abigail Higgins and Charlotte and Henry Murin. He is also survived by his sister Mary Courtney and her children Mary Celine and Paul. He also left behind his much loved grand fur-babies.
He was predeceased by his parents Matthew and Mae (McLaughlin) Higgins.
There will be a Celebration of Life at the Pochuck Firehouse at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or The Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
