Elizabeth “Betty” Markalinski passed away in peace surrounded by her family on June 17, 2014 at the age of 84, and is now in the loving arms of our dear Lord, Jesus Christ. She was born on February 7, 1930 in Detroit, MI to Joseph and Leona Thompson and then moved to Dayton, Ohio for 14 years before moving to Cape Coral, FL in 1977. Betty was a loving and loved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. She is survived by Francis “Marty”, her wonderful husband of 64 years; their children, Lee Ann Barker (Gary Nichting) and Martin (Kathleen) Markalinski, both of Cape Coral, FL; three grandsons, Matthew Barker of San Diego, CA, Daniel Barker of Cape Coral and Benjamin Barker of Orlando, FL; five great-grandchildren Camila, Lucas, Owen, Johnny and Sarah; as well as her brother and sister-in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and many loving friends.
She worked most of her life in the retail industry, then finally retired and learned how to play golf, but her first love was BINGO. She loved attending her church, St. Therese Parrish, where she always had a front row seat.
Her life has left us with heartfelt memories that will be held dear in our hearts forever. Be at peace and pain free, may you have on the most beautiful dancing shoes ever!
