Mr. Babos joined the U.S. Army when he was 18 years old, was a Veteran of World War II earning the rank of Technician 5th Grade. He was assigned to the 164th Engineers Combat Battalion serving in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe, GO 33 and 40 45. In addition to his decorations, he was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with Five Bronze Stars. After serving his country he was employed as a Mechanical Engineer, retiring from Goodyear Tire and Rubber after more than 25 years. He moved to Cape Coral in 1991 from Ohio. Mr. Babos enjoyed fishing, telling jokes, and reading.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Ann Marie Babos of Cape Coral; son, Brian (Michelle) Babos of Coats, North Carolina; daughter, Karen (Richard) Chaney of Cape Coral; brother, Raymond (Nancy) Babos of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Andrew (Stephanie) Babos, Kelsey (Dawon Millwood) Babos, Jordan Chaney; future great-granddaughter, Elisabeth, with a due date May 2019. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Beverly Ann Babos who passed away when she was two years old, his wife, Antoinette Franek Babos who passed away on December 14, 2014, and his son Alan Babos who passed away on November 12, 2015, and a brother, Frank Babos
Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Andrew Catholic Church on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 11:00 am. Burial with Military Honors will be in Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to Hope Hospice or the Cape Coral Animal Shelter,
