

Gene is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Darlene Hood; sons Edward (Colleen), Jeffrey (Tina) and Joseph (Allison); grandchildren Olivia, Victoria, Tyler, Grant, Lauren and Alexandra; brother Edward; and sister Jane.
He was preceded in death by father Frank, mother Ireda, and sister Frankie.
Gene attended Denby High School in Detroit and served in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1958.
Gene worked at Chrysler Corporation for several years and rose to general foreman. In 1971, together with his wife (Darlene), sister (Jane Hardy), and brother-in-law (Robert Hardy), Gene founded JERD Printing and Advertising, which he owned and operated in Roseville, Michigan until his retirement in 1997.
Gene and Darlene resided in Dearborn (1963-1965), St. Clair Shores (1965-1972) and Shelby Township (1972-1998), Michigan and Cape Coral, Florida (1998-2017). He was active in the community and was one of the founders of the Shelby Lions Little League Football program.
Gene will be fondly remembered for his affable disposition, wisdom, generosity, and love of family, friends, nature, and football.
