Born September 13, 1945, in Hartford, Connecticut, to the late Norma (Hodge) and Francis Gastringer, Fran lived a rich and vibrant life in Hartford and Glastonbury, Connecticut, Hudson, New York, and, for the last chapter, Cape Coral.
Fran enjoyed a long and distinguished career in banking, rising to Vice President. Her professional life was marked by the same warmth and reliability she brought to everything she did.
A passionate volunteer, Fran gave generously of her time and talent. In Connecticut she was a devoted supporter of the Humane Society. In Florida she was a beloved and longtime member of the Cape Coral Garden Club, where she delighted in decorating tables for events, teaching floral design, demonstrating “Art in Bloom” arrangements, and earning many ribbons at flower shows. She also brought joy to nursing-home residents by helping them create fresh flower arrangements.
Fran was an enthusiastic world traveler who cruised extensively and visited China, Japan, Italy, France, Cuba, and the Caribbean. She had an extraordinary eye for beauty and collected exquisite cultural artifacts and decorative pieces from the East, filling her home with treasures that reflected her adventurous spirit and impeccable taste.
Fran cherished her family deeply. She is survived by her brothers Jim Gastringer, Frank Gastringer, and Norman Gastringer, as well as many nieces, nephews, and the children she loved as her own grandchildren: Maddox and Miles Codling, Camden Gastringer, Everett Matthews, and Ethan Caron. She spoke often and fondly of her mother and grandmother, whose memory she kept close to her heart.
Fran adored animals and shared her home and heart with many beloved pets over the years, most recently her faithful companions Dutchess (cat) and Bella (dog).
A celebration of Fran’s life will be held Friday, December 5, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Coral Ridge Funeral Home & Cemetery, 950 Chiquita Blvd S, Cape Coral, FL 33991.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Fran’s honor to the Humane Society (humanesociety.org).
Fran will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, and boundless love. She made the world more beautiful simply by being in it.
