George C. Lamb, 90 of Punta Gorda, FL passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2012. He was born and raised in Flushing, New York to George and Alvina Randall Lamb. George was a Veteran of World War II serving as an M.P. in the U.S. Army. After returning home he joined the Long Island, State Parkway Police. He moved to Florida in 1976 and opened his own business, George Lamb Distributors-Automotive-Marine Supplies. George was a Charter and Life Member of the Punta Gorda, B.P.O. Elks Lodge 2606. He was an Elk for over 56 years serving as Lodge Officers and as the Exalted Ruler 1988–1989. In his many years of service to the Elks he served on every committee and was the Florida State Sports Committe Chairman. He was a member of the South Southwest District and Punta Gorda Lodge Past Exalted Ruler's Association. George was past Commodore of the Smithtown Bay Yacht Club.
George is survived by his loving family including his wife of 64 years, Mildred Lamb; son George R. Lamb (Susan) of Pennsylvania; granddaughter, Allison (Michael) Shenberger of Michigan, Marilla Lamb of Arizona; great grandchildren, Riley and Tristan Shenberger.
The Elks Memorial Service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at the Punta Gorda Elks Lodge No. 2606. The Presiding Officers will be the Past Exalted Rulers, Punta Gorda Lodge.
The family suggests memorial donations in his memory be made to the Harry-Anna Trust Fund c/o Elks Lodge 2606, PO Box 511598, Punta Gorda, FL 33951.
