

After a long, courageous battle with Multiple Systems Atrophy (MSA), a rare neurological disease, Gerry succumbed in his Punta Gorda, FL home with loving members of his family and hospice by his side on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014.
Born in Queens, NY to Anne (Krautter) and Daniel Nolan on 10/7/39, he resided there until 1973 when he and his family moved to Clinton Twp., NJ.
At retirement in June of 2000, he was Managing Director of Wm. Zinsser, UK Ltd. in England. Prior to that, he travelled far and wide as International Sales and Marketing Manager for Wm Zinsser & Co., Inc., Somerset NJ.
Gerry had an entrepreneurial spirit. He owned several small businesses including the Blue Ox Restaurant in Flemington, NJ in the late 1970’s. He was a helper of people, had a positive attitude and captured the interest of all with recounts of his travel
Always ready to volunteer, he worked with Junior Achievement in Union, NJ and at the Hunterdon Medical Ctr.
He joined the NJ Court System Volunteer program & was a member of the Child Placement Review Board of Hunterdon Cty. , advocates and oversight for the children placed out-of-home by DYFS considering the best interest of the children with focus on permanence and safety.
In Warren County, he mediated minor disputes assisting to find a mutually acceptable agreement.
In Somerset County, he was a member of the Juvenile Conference Committee of the Superior Court working with alleged juvenile first offenders, making recommendations to the Family Court Judge suggesting counseling, community work, etc. to help the child to become a responsible adult.
After moving to Lee County, FL, he was in the process of becoming a member of the Juvenile Arbitration Committee of the Twentieth Judicial Circuit when he became ill. He also taught the 4th grade CCD program at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in Bokeelia,
Gerry was an Avid Gardener; held a Private Pilot’s license; was a handball player and runner .
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Carol and their six children: Dolores, Daniel, Theresa, Kenneth, Jeanne and Gerard; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and 2 brothers, Patrick (Carol) and Daniel (Debra . He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret
