While in Rochester, Gordon worked for Kodak and the Lake Ontario State Parkway Police. After moving to Cape Coral, he became a charter member of the Cape Coral Police Department, retiring as Captain.
Gordon enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting and bowling. One of his proudest accomplishments was bowling a perfect 300 game in addition to his 299 game. He and Phyllis visited all 50 states. He especially enjoyed driving to Alaska in their motorhome, it was a trip he frequently talked about; Hawaii also held special memories as they visited four times.
Gordon is survived by his wife of 40 years, Phyllis; Son Kevin Shute of Cape Coral, Florida; Granddaughter Brittney (Tom) Herbort; Great Grandson Thompson of Highlands, North Carolina; Brother Gerald (Jane) Shute of Rochester, New York; Sister Virginia Provo of Cape Coral, Florida; Brothers Jim (Linda) Shute of Spring Water, New York, Bill (Diane) Shute of Lake Wales, Florida, Bob (Beverly) Shute of Victor, New York and many special nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his special furry friend, Lexi, who he adored.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Howard Shute; Wife of 25 years, Janet; Daughter Anne Marie; Sister Pat Janson and Brother Michael Shute.
