Gregory Lee Bowden, 63, of Cape Coral, Florida, departed this life on Thursday, October 29, 2020. After a 2.5 year battle with aggressive cancer, the Lord peacefully called him Home. Throughout it all, he stood steadfast in his faith to “Never give up, give in, or back down!”
Greg was born on September 21, 1957, to James and Annette (Stacy) Bowden in Pineville, Kentucky. He graduated from Knox Central High School in Barbourville, Kentucky in 1975, and subsequently earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Union College, also in Barbourville, Kentucky. He served 12 years in the Kentucky National Guard and then continued his working career as an AICE-certified master mechanic.
He relocated with his wife and children to Cape Coral, Florida in 1992. After many years in the field, he retired as a service manager for Southwest Disposal in Fort Myers, Florida. Greg was an ordained minister of the Church of God (Cleveland Assembly); he ministered for many years throughout Kentucky and Southwest Florida. He most recently served as Associate Pastor of Abundant Life Fellowship Church in Cape Coral, Florida.
Greg was passionate about Jesus, his wife, his family, and helping others. He was lovingly referred to as “the gentle giant” and spent his days working for the betterment of those around him. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, camping, good food, and watching westerns and Hallmark movies.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dayna (Patterson) Bowden, his daughters Rebecca Petrulis and her husband, Adam; Sarah Jones and her husband Justin, both of Cape Coral, Florida, and his son, Jonathan Bowden of Ormond Beach, Florida. He leaves behind 6 grandchildren (Caleb, Cambren, and Christian Bowden, Brody and Cooper Jones, and Ava Petrulis) and 3 siblings, Jim Bowden and his wife Cindy of Girdler, Kentucky, Janet Bowden also of Girdler, Kentucky, and Gwen Alleva and her husband Robert of Kingston, New York.
A celebration of life will be hosted by Abundant Life Fellowship Church on Sunday, November 15, 2020, at 1813 Eldorado Pkwy West. Cape Coral, FL. 33914. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a service at 11:00 AM. Lunch will be served at the conclusion of the service.
