Obituary of Harry Wolonosky
Harry Wolonosky, 91, the son of John & Anna, was born in Spangler, PA on September 20, 1931. Harry passed away on January 24, 2023, in Fort Myers, Florida. Harry, early on, lived mostly in Central City, Pa. He was a well-known artist beginning at Shade Township High School where he won many awards for his art and poster work. Shortly out of high school, Harry first came to Florida to a try-out camp for the Washington Senators Professional Baseball Team. In 1952-1954 Harry served in the Korean War as a member of the 101st Airborne Division and later the Second Armored Division. Harry married his wife Betty in Windber, PA in 1956. Later, in 1962, Harry moved with his family to the Ft. Myers & Cape Coral area. He started his own commercial sign business in 1966. Harry was the owner of Falcon Signs, running it for many years. Falcon Signs is now run by his son, Martin and celebrating 57 years in business in Cape Coral. Harry was a past commander of the VFW Post 2444 in Ft. Myers from 1967-1968, as well as President of the Slavic Club of Lee County in 1997. He was also well known locally as the director of The Buccaneers Drum & Bugle Corps and The Royal Lancers Drum & Bugle Corps of Cape Coral where he directed them for 21 years. The corps represented the city in many parades & competitions across the nation and locally gaining many honors. Harry was also instrumental in starting the S.W. Florida Polka Boosters, where he was President for 22 years. The S.W. Florida Polka Boosters held many polka dances throughout the years for over 300 members. Preceded in death by the love of his life, Betty, who passed away in August of 2015. Harry is survived by his daughter Charlotte (Russell) of North Ft. Myers-FL, son Martin of Cape Coral-FL, and daughter Pamela (Gonzalez) of Orlando-FL. Along with grandchildren Jennifer, Alexia, Aleena, Alanni and great-grandchildren Zachary & Macy. Services will be held for the immediate family, privately at Coral Ridge Cemetery, followed by a service for family & friends at St. Andrew Catholic Church- 2628 Del Prado Blvd S, Cape Coral, Florida 33904 at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2023.
