October 24, 1933 – April 19, 2024
Hilda passed away surrounded by family members, on Friday, April 19, 2024 in Cape Coral, Florida, where she had lived since 1996. She was born in Rochester, NY, the daughter of Cornelius & Rose (May) Waasdorp.
After graduating from East High School in 1951, she enrolled in the University of Rochester School of Nursing and graduated in 1954. The same year she married Thomas W. Joslyn, on June 19th. They moved to Texas while Tom was in the United States Air Force. A few years later they returned to Rochester and built a home in Webster, NY where they lived and raised their family.
Hilda worked most of her career, as a Private Duty Nurse, while raising her children. After her retirement from private duty, she went back to work at Webster Medical in Webster, NY. In 1996, they moved to Florida. She again returned to nursing at the IMA medical office in Fort Myers, FL until she was 72 years old.
Hilda lived for over 90 years and had a life filled with much love with 5 children, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren. She lived with Parkinson’s for the last 20 years of her life and so her body failed her long before her mind ever did. As a religious woman, she felt ready to leave this life. I know she has found eternal joy in heaven with her loved ones.
She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Joslyn, her son Thomas Joslyn and her son-in-law James Goodman. She is survived by her sons: Todd Joslyn and Tedd (Laura) Joslyn; her daughters: Terre’ (Paul) Van Der Mallie and Tina Goodman; grandchildren: Weston (Bonnie) Joslyn, Shaun Joslyn, Jenna (Cody) Dunn, Cayleigh (Jake) Sarvey, Connor Joslyn, Kristy Goodman; brother-in-law Edward (Carmen) Joslyn and 7 great grandchildren and many family and friends.
She will be buried beside her husband at Coral Ridge Cemetery, Cape Coral, FL. A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
