James Richard Shannon

James Richard Shannon, 62, of Cape Coral, FL passed away on Monday, September 8, 2014. He was born on February 22, 1952 in Cleveland, Ohio to Thomas and Mildred Herhuth Shannon. James was a Veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Air Force. He moved to Cape Coral in 1978 from Cleveland. James enjoyed NASCAR, fireworks, bowling and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 36 years, Florence Ledger Shannon; daughters, Jennifer Velez of Cape Coral and Melissa Shannon of Cape Coral; four grandchildren, Alexus Velez, Melina Velez, James A. Shannon, Demetria Henderson; sisters, Nancy and Barb; brothers, Sam, Jack, Bill and Tom.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, September 12th at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 1630 Pine Island Road, Cape Coral.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:30 am on Saturday, September 13th at the funeral home, with Military Honors provided by V.F.W. Post 8463, Cape Coral.
