Jayla M. Becerril, 11, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, in Cape Coral, Florida. Born July 15, 2015, in Brooklyn, New York, Jayla arrived in this world with a spirit that was unmistakably bright, tender, and fierce all at once.
Although Jayla was wheelchair-dependent and non-verbal, she lived her life with a fullness that inspired everyone who knew her. She told her stories through her beautiful, expressive eyes—eyes that sparkled with mischief, curiosity, and love. Her laughter, unforgettable and contagious, was a full-body laugh that wrapped around those near her like a warm hug. It was impossible not to smile when Jayla did.
Jayla loved her family with a heart so big it seemed to spill over. She was sweet, gentle, and caring, yet also incredibly tough—a fighter who faced every challenge with resilience and joy. Even in difficult moments, she found ways to laugh, reminding everyone around her of the strength found in softness.
She had the best outfits, always dressed with flair and personality. Anything with unicorns or mermaids delighted her, and she wore her favorite themes proudly, radiating magic wherever she went.
Jayla’s life, though far too short, was filled with love, color, and courage. She taught her family and friends how to appreciate the small wonders, how to communicate without words, and how to love without limits. Her presence was a gift; her memory will remain a guiding light.
Jayla will forever be cherished by those who loved her fiercely—and by all who were lucky enough to be loved by her. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Carmen and Wilfredo; as well as her paternal grandfather, Jose Becerril.
Jayla is survived by her loving parents, Jose and Lucy Becerril; her brother, Justin; paternal grandmother, Naida Becerril; three aunts, Debbie and her husband, Benjamin, Margie and Blanca; three uncles, Moses, Rey and Willie; as well as many cousins, extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon, Thursday, August 6, 2026 at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 950 Chiquita Boulevard S., Cape Coral, FL. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 12 Noon inside the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Garden of Island Estates in Coral Ridge Memorial Park, Cape Coral, FL.
