

Jeanne LaVonne Slinker Loken, 99, passed away on October 18, 2015 in Pasadena, Texas. She was born on a farm in Peru, Nebraska, February 13, 1916 to Roy and Gladys Vance Slinker. She grew up outside Peru, graduating from Peru Training School (High School) at 17 and continued on to State Teachers College where she met her future husband, Lenn T. Loken. They were married in 1935. Lenn and Jeanne spent many happy years in Lincoln, Nebraska, where they owned and operated Loken’s Grocery. In 1966 they moved to Cape Coral, Florida. Jeanne was very active at Christ Lutheran Church, and received a “Volunteer of the Year” award in Cape Coral. She was a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years, participating on their Drill Team. Jeanne loved to knit, and was seldom without her yarn and needles making her family countless sweaters and afghans. She moved to Texas about 9 years ago to be near her youngest daughter, Sally.
Jeanne is survived by her four children, Sally Lynn Patterson (Ronald) of Seabrook, TX, Neal John Loken (Barbara) of Farmingdale, ME, Ronald Leroy Loken (Susan) of Lincoln, NE, Barbara Ann Thomas (Rodney) of Lexington, S.C.; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lenn in 2000 and also a grandson.
Visitation will be on Saturday, October 24th from 1 to 2 pm at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 1630 SW Pine Island Road, Cape Coral, with Funeral Services starting at 2 pm.
