Jimmie (Jim) Rand Redell was born on January 25, 1943 in Amarillo, TX to Wade K. and Francis M. Sweatt Reddell. He was the eldest son with three siblings, Judith A. Dodson, himself, Bill and Jan (R. Janet) McAdams.
Jim was a hero of mine. He left home at the earl age of 15 or 16 and put himself through Dumas High School by working as a butcher for a local independent grocer. After graduating, he married and continued his education by becoming a court reporter. He was drafted into the Army and saw combat in the 2/60th Recon Platoon of the 9th Infantry Division in the Mekong Delta of South Vietnam in 1967-68. While there, he was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, Air Metal, Bonze Star, National Defense Service Metal, Vietnam Service Metal and other awards. After his first marriage failed, he met Janey Kesterson from San Antonio, Texas and they married on December 9, 1972. He returned to court reporting in County Court Judge Robert Lozano. After retiring, he and Janey moved to Cape Coral, Florida where they resided for 14 years before moving to Ft. Myers just before Hurricane Ian. Jim is survived by his wife, all his siblings and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim will live forever in our hearts and we will all rejoice when we have our reunion with him in Heaven.
