

John is survived by his wife Barbara, his children Gary (Emily), Mark (Leigh Ann), Al (Deb), Rick (Heather), Chris, Teresa (Steve), Bill (Loretta), Kathleen (Bill), Robert, grandchildren and great grandchildren. As well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.
John loved hunting, fishing, sports and most of all time spent with his family. John served in the US Navy where he boxed Golden Gloves. Throughout his life John once played with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and was scouted by the Red Sox both of which ended when he broke his arm. He raced in demolition derbies, had his pilots license through his membership in a flying club in St. Ignace, MI, was the president of the St. Ignace Chamber of Commerce and taught welding at the Marquette Northern Michigan University. John moved around a lot through his work with Kaiser Engineers and wherever it took him he took in the culture of the area. John was very active in his retirement with Special Olympics Bowling and Golf with Robert. He was well known as the go to guy always willing to lend a hand. John was a loving husband, father and friend to all.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ted and Rose, his brothers Lee and Ray, his son Butch (Lois) and former spouse Dorothy.
Services will be held at St. Andrews Church, 2628 Del Prado Blvd, Cape Coral, FL 33904 on Friday, February 5, 2016 at 11:30 am, followed by a celebration of his life luncheon at Kiwanis Club, 360 Santa Barbara Blvd, Cape Coral, FL 33991. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to Guardian Angels for Special Populations; PO Box 151321, Cape Coral, FL 33990.
