Love you Grandpa, you were always such a great and wise influence in my life. You always made sure i prayed with you and went to sunday school and always pushed me in the right direction. Joe Beesley will always be my most talked about relative. Not only because of the impressive stories or sheer might. But because he always had the answer and persistance to keep on amd complete any task. Staying and travelling with grandpa will always be my favorite rebels. I wanted you to keep your word. He has such an impressive and inspirational voice ane attitude. My grandpa i can easily say is the beat influence of my life, no matter what obstacle lie in the way we can pass it. May you live happily in heave like you deserve grandpa

I am saddened to learn of the passing of Lt. Beesley.

Lt. Beesley was my firearms academy instructor.  I had never shot a handgun before the academy.  Lt. Beesley taught me the fundamentals of handgun shooting that lasted with me for my law enforcement career.  He was the BEST instructor I had while attending the police academy in 1978.

then Sgt beesley used to run past my house on Monroe st, yes in uniform, heading to work late 60 s early 70s i yhink.He also as I remember ran Taylor Ambulance service at that time.When I was hired on Taylor pd He was my first boss sgt I believe under Carl Lang. Jo was a comforting and welcoming figure to me in a strange and scary world of law enforcement. A good man.. I will miss my Grandpa Joe.  He was alway there for me especially in the hard times.  He would read to me when I was sick, pray for me always and lived his life right and true.  He knew that doing the right thing was rarely the easy thing.  I will always live to follow his example.  I love you Grandpa.

Joe kept his faith in God through all of his health issues and the trials if life.

Joe was not only a great man and a great police officer, but he did more for competitive shooting in Michigan than anyone can imagine.  His efforts are still reflected in the level of competition available today.  He will be sorely missed by all.

Joe was a great guy!  Always ready to help anyone who needed it.  I considered him a good friend.

Lt. Joseph Beesley was a straight shooter in life and on the pistol range. Doing the right thing was the most important to him. Helped keep me on the straight path when I was lost. Wish I had told him personally. I always enjoyed visiting when I was in Florida. We have all lost a great man, yet, God knows he is special and now is in Heaven with no pain. God Bless

I first met Joe when I was in the Washtenaw Academy in 1971.  He was my firearms instructor.  Great man and great instructor.  I ran into him several years later when I started shooting in competition.  That is where I met his wife Gail.  They were always together and always holding hands.  Really great couple. RIP Joe

I am reminded of the passing of my own grandpa when I was just two years older than our Kassie a true friend at church in cape coral, so my compassionate heart goes out to this seven year old  in her lost for her grandpa... this 2015, February... as we are reminded that GOD KNOWS AND HOLDS THE FUTURE of this incredible young girl, as making memories today is the best we can do for our children and love ones as memories carry us on.. sometimes this looks like a grandma breathing words into a girl to hear in her ears though in grown we recall a phrase that keeps giving because our family took the time to say it.  gail hang in there girl as you and Kassie will survive this moment of loss...

Joe's passing is a great loss to family, friends and the competitive shooting sports community.  He was a true friend and a great role model.

Joe was my first contact upon starting at Taylor PD. He was a great friend and we had many a good time putting on the combat matches for so many years. He will be greatly missed by all.

When I first met Joe I was with my older brother Rick Swope when Joe pulled us over and gave Rick his first speeding ticket. About 6 or 7 years later Joe was one of the Officers who trained Rick as a newly sworn Patrolman. Joe was also Ricks mentor when he joined Taylors Pistol Team. During those years I served on the Taylor Fire Department across the parking lot. We both have fond memories of Joe, he was a good friend to Rick. Even though neither of us have seen Joe for the last 25 years, we often speak of him with respect and admiration, Joe will be missed.
