Joseph Austin McCabe

Joseph Austin McCabe, 92, of Providence, RI, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017 in Cape Coral, FL. Joseph was born March 2, 1924 in Providence, RI to Bernard and Rose McCabe. Graduating from Providence College, class of 1949, Joseph married Eleanor Mycroft on June 18, 1949 in Cranston, RI. He worked as an accountant for Firestone for 31 years. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army and was awarded WWII Victory Medal, the European AFR MidEast Camp Rib with 5 Service Stars. He was involved in the Knights of Columbus. Joseph is survived by wife Eleanor; children Maureen Kissinger, Joseph (Marcia), James (Caralynne), Catherine (Richard) Moss-Solomon, Patricia (Edward) Plante, Nancy (Gary) Burke. Grandchildren Michelle, Paul, Joseph, Deirdre, Kelly, Bridget, Corey, Elizabeth, Tyler, Meghan, Dustin, Natasha, Christopher, Nicole, Nora, Erin, Shannon, Jonathan, Kimberly, and Caitlin. Great grandchildren Patrick and Killean, Warren and Wyatt, Ally and Emily, Hadlee, Blair, and Kason.

Visitation will be Monday, February 6th from 3-5pm at Coral Ridge Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 7th at 11:30am at St. Andrews Catholic Church, Cape Coral. Joseph will be buried with military honors 11:30am on Wednesday, February 8th at the Sarasota National Cemetery. The family of Joseph McCabe wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Cape Coral Hope Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in his name.
