Judith B. Wootten, 79, of North Ft. Myers passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2021. She is preceded in death by her husband, Forrest (Woody), and her son, William. She is survived by two loving daughters, Kimberly (Matt) Mauro and Nicole (Ashley) Coots, as well as three beautiful grandchildren, Kaden, Samantha, and Trent.
Judy was loved by many and often described as the “life of the party”. Prior to becoming a wife and mother, she was a flight attendant for Capital Airlines. She remained close to many of her fellow flight attendants. Judy and Woody moved to Florida in 1979 when he retired from the Delaware Air National Guard. They may have left Newark, Delaware, behind, but not the lifelong friends they made there.
Her greatest accomplishment was raising her three children, all of whom made her proud. Billy was her first born and diagnosed with Down Syndrome. This challenge only made Judy stronger and more resilient. She never missed her daughters at swim meets and cheerleading or Billy’s Special Olympic events. With that same loving support, her daughters were with her as she passed on to meet her Woody and Billy at the other side.
Through the years she was active in many organizations to include the American Legion Auxiliary 336 and AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary 81. She was active in her community at Pine Lakes where she also leaves behind many new friends.
At Judy’s request, a private ceremony with only immediate family will be held at Coral Ridge Funeral Home. But her family feels that Judy’s “Life of the Party” personality deserves one last celebration. Therefore, a “Celebration of Life” will be held at a later date (to be determined). In lieu of flowers, a donation in Judith’s name can be made to GiGi’s Playhouse, serving individuals with Down Syndrome and their families with free services and resources.
