Larry Scoggin was born in Pine Bluff Arkansas in August 5th 1944 to Joe Scoggin and Myrtis Fagan Scoggin. He was the youngest of 6 children. In school he was always well liked and a joy to be around. He was voted captain of the football team in High school and also class clown.
Larry worked 20 years for the cotton belt railroad in Pine Bluff Arkansas as a welder and "Car knocker."
In 1984 he and his family moved to Englewood Florida where he and his wife Patricia Murphy Scoggin raised their sons Lance and Jon.
Larry loved the beach and always dreamed of moving to an exotic location and treasure hunting. Equal to his love for the beach was his love of old cars and hot rods. Larry was known as the guy that could fix just about anything and that is what brought him the most joy.... helping out others. There was never a need that Larry didn't meet somehow some way. From kids Christmas toys to neighbors broken toilets, Larry would always find a way. To this day, you will be hard to find someone who wouldn't consider Larry one of their dearest friends.
He is succeeded in life by his parents Joe and Myrtis. Brothers Joe Jr, Jerry, and James, and sisters Bernice and Daisy. He also lost his wife of 14 years Patricia Murphy Scoggin. He leaves behind his sons Lance (Justine) Scoggin and Jonathan (Adrienne) Scoggin along with 6 grandchildren.
A memorial service for Larry will take place on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at 2pm at Coral Ridge Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Coral Ridge Cemetery.
