Leomery was born and raised in the Dominican Republic by her adoptive mother, Maria Luisa Caminero. At the age of twenty, she went to live with her father, Maximino Figueroa, in Puerto Rico. She later moved and settled in New York City, NY where she met and married her beloved husband of 50 years, Rafael C. Montilla, who predeceased her in 2011.
Leomery attended Secretarial school in the Dominican Republic, but later worked and became an excellent seamstress in New York City at H&H Atlas, Inc. She retired in 1975 to become a full-time mother and housewife. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother; always putting her family’s needs and cares before her own. Leomery also loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and always looked to Him for His strength and guidance in her life.
She was an exceptional cook and loved cooking for family and friends. She enjoyed antique shopping, flea markets, decorating her home, and spending time with family and friends.
Leomery was preceded in death by her birth mother, Ana Taveras; her father, Maximino Figueroa; her adoptive mother, Maria Luisa Caminero; and her beloved husband, Rafael C. Montilla.
She is survived by her children; Ed, Ana, and Oscar.
Grandchildren; Geraldine (Robert), Jonathan, and Christopher.
Four sisters; Andrea Morban, Tampa, FL; Alejandrina (Ramon) Cruz, Jersey City, NJ; Juliana Roa, Jersey City, NJ; and Margarita Morales, Tampa, FL.
Four brothers; Diomar Figueroa, New York, NY; Mario Figueroa, Columbus, IN; Carlos Figueroa, San Juan, PR; Reuter Figueroa, San Juan, PR; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She also had many friends with whom she leaves many cherished and treasured memories with.
