February 2nd 1935 – Chicago Illinois
August 25th 2021 – Cape Coral Florida
Beloved and dear father to Patricia Lindseth Pearson and Christopher Lindseth. Father in Law to Craig Pearson. Brother to CarolAnn Bagley. Uncle to many nieces and nephews, and “Uncle Al” to many friends. Preceded in death by his wonderful wife of 45 years, Carol Jean Lindseth.
Al started life with a major challenge at the age of 12. He contacted Polio and was in an Iron Lung Machine. He overcame the physical and emotional trauma with determination and a wonderful sense of humor, qualities he passed along to us, but was left with a studder to work through during his older childhood and young adult life.
Al discovered Barbershop Singing, which helped him address this condition, and participated in over 60 years of singing, competing, mentoring, and judging competitions. He utilized his judging skills to help others with their skills. He forged a great many lifetime friends through this organization and hobby.
Al was also a Mason, joining the Libertyville, Il Lodge as a young man, continuing a family tradition of Masons and Eastern Stars.
Al made his career as an electrical contractor, and member of the IBEW in Chicago and Phoenix. He spent many winters wiring in below zero winds in Chicago, and over 120 degree summer heat in Arizona after relocating his family there in the ‘70’s. Enduring these extreme conditions to be the best possible provider for his wife and children, to whom he gave a wonderful life of security, love, happiness, and life coaching.
Al was in his comfort zone and happiness sharing stories and tales with a large group of friends. Many will remember “Alphonse the Moose”.
“Uncle Al”, “Dad”, taught us all to skate, play hockey, fish, play baseball, and many other sports. We all went to every Disney movie, and also had our moments with Lon Chaney and Bela Lugosi. He took us to baseball games and hockey games. He was a hockey referee for children and adult leagues, and even ref’d the Blackhawks games in the early ‘60’s. He was always involved with all the neighborhood kids. He dressed as Santa and took a real sleigh to visit everyone’s homes on cold Chicago Christmas Eve nights. He helped build an ice rink for the kids in the neighborhood with the Parks and Rec, even wiring it by himself at 3 in the morning in a bitter cold Illinois winter. This is the kind of man he was.
Al was always there to lend a hand, give advice and encouragement, and make you laugh and smile. There will be so many of us saddened by losing him here on this earth – but so many memories that will make us all smile as we carry him with us.
If you wish to make donations – please do so to your favorite charity, or to Make a Wish Foundation.
Al will be interred in the Lindseth Family Niche’s at Mountain View Cemetery in Mesa Az.
