Though he was fighting lung cancer, his death came sudden due to pneumonia. He passed peacefully at Hope Hospice Cape Coral, FL with his entire family by his side.
Lee was born and raised in Queens, NY. In his youth speed skating was his favorite thing to do and was so good at it, that he made it all the way to the finals of the Olympic trials, skating that race in Madison Square Garden, New York City. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1952 and married his lovely bride Rose, June 6, 1954. For a short while they lived in Valley Stream, NY, then settling in West Hempstead, NY. There is where he raised his 4 children. He was a great dad who was very active in his children’s lives. He was a coach and commissioner of the West Hempstead Little League, and in 1968 took them all the way to Williamsport, PA to the Little League World Series.
In 1986 he was given the “Citizen of the Year” award, from the New York City Police Dept. being recognized for his charitable contributions. One of his proudest achievements was becoming a Master Mason in good standing, a member of Lodge number 362.
He was quick witted and fun, a very caring and compassionate man, a friend to everyone he met. He was very in tuned with nature, always watering his flowers, feeding the birds and owned many different kinds of animals threw out his lifetime. He taught us compassion, not just for his fellow man, but for all living creatures.
To his many friends he will be sorrowfully and sadly missed, and to his family, he was the rock and the blessing that will sustain them.
