Marian Golden — Mom, Nannie, Gran Nan, and great-grandmother — went home to be with the Lord on Friday morning, September 18, 2026, at 4:11 a.m. Eight years after the passing of Leonard "Len" Golden, her husband of nearly 70 years, she has gone to join him.
Marian was born April 3, 1933, in Boscoppa, a small village on the outskirts of St Austell in Cornwall, England. An only child, she lost her father early in World War II; a stoker on a minesweeper, he was among the first to die in the war. She married Len, and together they moved to Canada and later to the United States, where they raised five children: Cherie, Bernard Paul, Debbie, Jon, and Tim.
She was, and still is, a peaceful person who made mothering her life's work. She made dessert every day for her family, along with full meals. There was a season when Len, Paul, Jon, and Tim all worked at the steel mill, and she would go through a loaf and a half of bread each day making their sandwiches.
Marian was an active member of Central Baptist Church in Gary, Indiana, and later in Hobart, where for years she served as Sunday school secretary for the Primary 2 department. Her favorite verse was Proverbs 3:6: "In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." She loved her tea, often five or six cups a day, and believed there was nothing that couldn't be solved over a cup. Through the years she kept her pragmatic Cornish ways: being a good friend, a good wife, a good mother, and helping others wherever she could.
She often said that when the Lord calls you home, there's nothing you can do. Her last words were "I love you." And we love her too.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Len, and her son Paul. She is survived by her four children, 19 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
A Graveside burial will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 29, at Coral Ridge Memorial Park & Cremation Gardens in Cape Coral, Florida.
A Celebration of Life will take place Friday, November 27, in Roswell, Georgia.
