Marion Barbara Smith

Marion Barbara Smith, age 89, of Cape Coral, FL lived in Palm City, FL. She was born in Newport Township in Luzern County PA, on July 28, 1935, to Violet Kern and Peter Petroshak. Marion passed away peacefully in Stuart, FL on Sunday, June 29th, 2025 surrounded by loved ones.

Marion AKA “BINGO-BINGO” or “BUBBY” or “NANNY” graduated from Hair Dressing School in Brooklyn, New York. She owned and operated Stepp’s Beauty Salon in Hollywood, FL and retired at the early age of 55. Marion relocated from Miramar, FL to Cape Coral, FL in 1995. She married her childhood sweetheart, Charlie Smith, in 1955. A true love story, Charlie and Bubby, that lasted 57 years, until he passed in April of 2012.

Marion has spent the past 9 years living independently at The Pointe on Ocean Blvd. in Stuart, FL. She loved the beach, cleaning, having wine, drinking a beer, playing Bingo and going to all the social clubs around the Cape Coral area. For every holiday or birthday, everyone knew to expect a cheerful card from Nanny.

Marion is survived by her two sisters, Alice and Shirley, and was a loving mother to her five children, Charlie, Cindy, Danny, Bobby, and Jennifer. She was a loving Grandmother to her grandchildren, Mark Charles, the late Carolanne, Jessica, Zachary, Christina, Jeffrey, Kaitlyn, Trenton, and Brooke as well as a loving Great-Grandmother to her grandchildren, Grayson, Bennett, Jackson, Kenzy and soon to be born Sydney and another on the way. She will be treasured and missed by all who were fortunate to have her in her life.

A Visitation for Marion will take place from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Saturday, July 5, 2025 inside the Remembrance Event Center at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 950 Chiquita Boulevard S, Cape Coral, Florida 33991, (239) 283-0540. This reception honors Marion by remembering the many people and things which made her life special. It will also be casual and social, just like she was, with refreshments and hors d'oeuvres highlighting her penchant for hospitality.

At 12:30 PM, a Funeral Service will be celebrated by Fr. Thomas A. Heck inside the funeral home chapel. At the conclusion of these ceremonies, family and friends will recess to adjacent Coral Ridge Cemetery where Marion will be laid to rest at Mausoleum No. 4 alongside her dearly departed husband Charles T. Smith who passed away in 2012.
