

Maximo Urbano Soler , 86, of North Fort Myers, FL, died Monday, February 22, 2016 at the Cape Coral Hospital in Cape Coral, FL. Born May 19, 1929, in Baire, Cuba, he was the first son born to Maximo Gomez Soler and Ceida Montero Soler.
Maximo profoundly impacted the lives of his family and friends through his strong faith in God. As a Cuban immigrant, he appreciated the opportunity afforded him in America and became a United States citizen. He lovingly raised his family to have strong connections to faith and Cuban tradition. Until his health declined, he was actively involved in prison ministry in surrounding communities, sharing what he was most passionate about, his love of Christ. Although physically limited, he continued to minister in his local church playing his guitar, singing, teaching and discipling. He captivated his grandchildren and great-grandchildren with his contagious smile, dry humor and wise counsel.
Maximo is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sulma Virelles Soler, by his six children, Miriam Deschamps of Hialeah, FL, Zeida McGuire of Guilford, ME, Eladia Osterhouse of Cape Coral, FL, Doris Reed of Telford, TN, Maxine Ferris of Raleigh, NC, and Maximo J. Soler of North Fort Myers, FL. He and Sulma celebrate sixteen grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother , Jose Soler of Lugoff, SC, and sisters: Nivia Mursuli of Lugoff, SC, and Chelo Young of Atlanta, GA. He was predeceased by his sisters Oneida Floyd of Spartanburg, SC, and Daisy Balbon.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 26, 2016 at Coral Ridge Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1630 SW Pine Island Road, Cape Coral, FL 33991. A celebration service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with committal immediately following.
